SAVRALA and Southern Business School embark on education initiative …

September 2006

The Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) has been actively involved in promoting fleet management education for the industry since 2001. The association has recognised the need for wider access to training and education in the fleet management and leasing sectors and have now approached Gauteng-based Southern Business School (SBS) to assist them in their ongoing drive to provide formal higher education qualifications to SAVRALA members and other interested parties.

A distance learning institution, SBS (which is registered with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997) developed the Diploma in Management (Fleet Management) in association with Sarel Visagie of Mobilitas which is a knowledge management company specialising in the mobility and fleet management services industry.

“Affordability is paramount and SBS is able to meet the demand for quality education at a very reasonable cost,” says Visagie.

He adds that an important feature of the qualification is that it can also be offered as an in-house training programme in association with the Centre for Management Development (CMD) an organisational unit within the SBS. The CMD operates nationally and is geared to deliver training (short courses and Management Development Programmes) in other parts of the African continent.

The Diploma in Management is a 360-credit qualification registered on the NQF at level 6. It is a comprehensive qualification in management that will enable successful students to continue their studies at Advanced Diploma level.
