With effect from 14 February 2003, traffic officers may issue spot fines up to R2 500.00, R1 000.00 more than previously.

  • Any moveable property may be impounded to pay outstanding fines.

  • If the driver of a vehicle commits an offence and cannot be identified by the vehicle's owner, it follows that demerit points cannot be issued to that driver. Where points cannot be allocated, the owner is liable for three times the amount of the original fine!
